A grassroots journey from one village hostel to a growing network of schools — bringing education, empowerment, and dignity to tribal communities near Valsad, Gujarat.
Matrubhumi Sewa Kendra Charitable Trust was established by Late Shri Chhataram Hindwaniji, a devoted RSS member with an unwavering passion for community service. Understanding the severe lack of basic amenities in remote tribal regions, he envisioned an organization that would bring education, empowerment, and dignity to the most underprivileged.
Hindwaniji began his journey not with resources, but with people. He united volunteers and community members to ini ate development in villages where no government schemes reached—no electricity, no grants, and no schooling infrastructure. His work marked the beginning of real grassroots change.
As the Trust’s first initiative, a Boys Chhatralaya with 100 student capacity and a computer room named “Nilbhavan” was established in the villages of Virvad and Sidumbar. A girls chhatralaya was also completed with the help of Trust members at Virvad. It was a bold step to introduce digital education in a region where even basic schooling was absent — laying the foundation for bridging the digital divide among tribal youth.
In 2018, the Trust built the Pindwal Chhatralaya, a dedicated residential facility for tribal girls from Grade 9 to 12. Starting with 65 girls, the hostel offered a safe and structured environment to continue secondary education — a rare opportunity for girls in these rural areas.
With a growing demand for residential education, the Trust inaugurated the Vaghwad Chhatralaya in 2020, accommodating 90 boys and girls from Grades 3 to 8. This chhatralaya became a symbol of gender-inclusive education, nurturing the potential of younger students from surrounding tribal hamlets.
Also launched in 2016, the Bopi Chhatralaya began as a hostel exclusively for girls (Grades 9 to 12). Housing 90 students, it provided not just lodging, but also mentorship, guidance, and emotional support — factors critical for girl-child education in rural settings.
In 2022, the Bopi Chhatralaya saw a major transformation — upgraded to include a full-fledged secondary school, “Hindwaniji High School,” offering education from Grades 9 to 12, now serving 200 boys and girls. The upgrade included classrooms, staff, and additional educational resources, allowing students to pursue quality education without leaving their village.

These facilities have not only enhanced learning but also instilled confidence, curiosity, and ambition among the students.
The Trust also encourages students to participate in extracurricular platforms. For the past three consecutive years, students from Vaghwad and Bopi have proudly participated in the popular cultural event “Valsad’s Got Talent,” showcasing their creativity and hidden talents.

After the visionary foundation laid by Late Shri Chhataram Hindwaniji, the management of our chhatralaya activities has been gracefully carried forward by Shri Rameshbhai Fuletra, who continues to guide us with dedication and foresight.
As of today, over 300 students are benefiting from our educational support across three chhatralayas, and we’re aiming to expand our hostel facilities across all centers.
Doubling Educa onal Reach: Our goal is to double the number of students pursuing higher education, especially in BCA and Nursing streams, through consistent academic and residential support.
New Boys’ Hostel at Bopi: Plans are underway to construct a dedicated boys’ hostel in Bopi, designed to comfortably accommodate 20 students initially.
Smart Learning Facilities: We’re upgrading our infrastructure with laptops, desktop computers, and smart boards — ensuring modern, interactive, digital education.
